The story so far….

Emma Savage lives in rural Somerset, surrounded by the stunning country estates of Ammerdown, Mells and Cranmore.

Local land owners and farmers are reliant on the income generated by the local shoots and whilst the meat is supplied to butchers in Somerset and Wiltshire, nothing was happening to the feathers! It was from here, in November 2011, that Somerset Feather Company was born.

Somerset Feather Company started out life a few months before Christmas in 2011 making pheasant feather wreaths which went down a storm at both local craft fairs in Frome and the Bath Farmers Market.  The feather wreaths even ventured to Borough Market in London!

Present

Somerset Feather Company, whilst being a small, relatively new company has now ventured into producing feather lampshades made out of pheasant, french partridge, gineau fowl and white turkey feathers.

April 2012 saw Somerset Feather Company feature in ‘Somerset Life’ magazine in an article entitled ‘Bringing the Outside In’- see page 89.

The lead up to Christmas 2012 was busier than ever with pheasant feather wreaths being sold in a florist ‘Beaufort Blooms’ in Bradford Upon Avon and weekly supplies of wreaths travelling up to Cirencester and Herfordshire.

With the first order for lamp shades coming in from the US in January 2013, Somerset Feather Company had now gone global!

Future

Dimpsey is delighted to be featuring Emma as one of the Dimpsey Designers, especially as we can take feather commissions – so your imagination is the only limiting factor!
